Susan Coffman is married, has two grown step children who attended Lee's Summit Schools and four grandchildren, two of whom are attending Lee's Summit Schools. She has lived in Lee's Summit since 1978 and has consistently been interested in the well being of the children and families in this community. Because of this interest, she was one of the founding board members of the People Helping People Network. At the age of 40, she decided to get her college degree and in 1992 graduated Summa Cum Laude from Park College. Susan is now retired from 36 years in the banking industry.
Since retirement, Susan has become involved with Lee's Summit CARES, being named Lee's Summit CARES Volunteer of the Year in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and serving as a past Treasurer. In 2008 she became Program Coordinator of Lee's Summit CARES and serves co-chair for Parent University, and the Family Sector Leader and Business Sector Leader Assistant for the Character Council. Susan also compiled the book Character Connections for the Character Council.
Susan is a member of the American Business Women's Association, Treasurer Friends of Langsford House, Lee's Summit Noon Rotary Club and ReDiscover Auxillary. She serves on the board of Wellsprings and the advisory board of Pro Deo and the Human Services Board. She was on the Visioning Team for Lee's Summit 360 and is active on committees for Hillcrest Transitional Housing, Lee's Summit Chamber, Healthy Lifestyles.
