Our Team


Executive Director

Elaine joined Lee's Summit CARES in June 2021. She has executive-level experience in higher education and nonprofit organizations. She has a reputation for solving problems, strengthening programs, enhancing financial stability and building infrastructures to grow organizations. She earned a bachelor's degree in biology from UMKC and a master's degree in education from Webster University. Elaine resides in Lee's Summit.

Associate Executive Director

Monica Meeks, MBA, held jobs in the journalism and marketing fields before spending more than two decades as an executive with national, regional and local nonprofits. Currently, Monica serves on many state and local boards that support drug-free youth. Monica and her husband reside in Lee’s Summit.

Program Manager

Vanessa is a Lee’s Summit resident whose children attended LSR-7 schools. She brings more than 30 years experience working with individuals and families who experience homelessness, substance use disorders and mental health challenges. She is the chair of the City of Lee’s Summit Human Relations Commission, serves on the board of Lee's Summit Social Services and is a member of the Lee's Summit Ministerial Alliance. Vanessa has served as a Lee's Summit CARES parent educator at Hillcrest Lee’s Summit for parents as they move out of homelessness.
